REMNANTS
A series of static photographs accompanies a young woman’s fragmented account of her immigrant grandmother’s life.

The introduction of this assignment coincided with the recovery of my father’s family photo albums. Spanning across countries and decades, this was the first time that I’d seen those images, which left me feeling quite emotional. Still, minimal, and personal, “Remnants” blends documentary conventions with narrative techniques to create a hybrid piece of work. My own family photos are shown, and are accompanied by a truthful, yet scripted narration of my experience.
